Live in Unity

Written by Boyd Bailey

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today- November 8, 2011

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity… For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.” Psalm 133:1, 3b

It is good and pleasant to live in unity. It is bad and unpleasant to live in disunity. Unity is Christ-centered. Disunity is man-centered. Unity talks with others. Disunity talks about others. Unity is productive. Disunity is destructive. Unity prays to God. Disunity plays with God. Unity is the place where God’s blessings are bestowed. We are in a position to be blessed by the Lord when we are unified around His will.

Envy and agendas are set aside for the greater good of the whole. Fear is marginalized because the focus is on faith in our heavenly Father, not the methods of men. The Holy Spirit is the mediator of diverse perspectives and opinions. There is oneness in Christ when He is the object of our unity. Harmony invites heaven’s blessing.

“He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ” (Ephesians 1:9-11).

You may be battling divisive politics in your church, work, family or school. Do not be persuaded by personalities or emotion, instead wait on the truth. Let the facts forge your faith, and do not allow fear to drive you to feud. Accurate information is your ally, so wait on it to back up your beliefs. Let love lead you through the process of unification. Love overcomes petty politics and personality conflicts.

God blesses a motivation of love, because He is love. When your relationships are one heart and one spirit you are ready to be blessed. Trust the Lord to lead you, your family, your friends and your team members into unity around common principals, values and behaviors. Unity around Christ causes the world to wake up and watch, wanting what you have. It unleashes the opportunity for the Lord to grow you into an influencer for Him.

Jesus prays for you, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me” (John 17:22-23).

How can I be a channel of blessing which the Lord can use to bring unity among diversity?

Blessings this beautiful day, thanks to our Lord. I have to tell you what a blessing you have been to my life. I know deep down in te recesses of my soul that you are guided by the Holy Spirit. These Devotionals are nothing less than refreshment to a thirsty soul, and I praise God for you. I am trying what I can to help these devotionals get out as far as possible, because people are in such need of God’s Word, and of Salvation… it just seems to me that the deceived are falling for everything else, but I pray that God will enlighten His people, and that through His mighty and Powerful Word they can continually be saved through these devotions. Doctor Bailey, you are truly a vessel for our Father, and I bless you and yours in His Holy name. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and God has heard your cry. Take heart continually brother. He’s got your back, just as He has, every time until now.

    In Christ’s love,
