He Meets You Where You Are

Written by Tripp Prince

Wherever you find yourself today, know that his eternal love can find you there.”

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – June 4, 2026

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17, NLT

I was recently reflecting with a friend on the importance of re-reading great books and devotional literature. In the conversation, a single comment stood out to me. After pondering for a moment, this person noted, “The book is exactly the same as it was years ago, but I’m not the same as I was years ago, so the encounter is entirely different.”

When I look back on my life, I can see seasons in which the fruit of the Spirit is on abundant display: self-sacrificing love, kindness, and humility in abundance. Yet I also see seasons of great trial and sorrow as I struggled over my own shortcomings and those of others. When we say that the Lord “never changes,” it doesn’t mean he is emotionless and unmoved, failing to enter into these seasons of joy and sorrow with us. No, it means that his nature and character are consistent even when we are inconsistent.

The Lord does not love you more when you are doing well and love you less in your struggle. He never changes, and his unchanging disposition toward you is love. We encounter this truth time and time again in the Bible, serving for us as an unchanging record of our Lord’s eternal changelessness.

Yet where are you, and who are you, today?

How does your ever-changing life in this very moment encounter his eternal changelessness? Do you find him to be the loving and merciful Lord that he is, or is your heart wandering and unsettled? Do you battle anger towards the Lord or confusion over how he has allowed this or that to happen? It does us no good to pretend we are someone we are not! Instead, wherever you find yourself today, know that his eternal love can find you there.

Prayer

Father, meet us in the ever-changing realities of our lives with your unchanging and steadfast love, we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Application

Meditate afresh on the unchanging nature of God, and how this is very good news for you today.
