Trust Perseveres by God’s Love

Written by Boyd Bailey

Trust perseveres because it is buoyed by its belief in God’s unfailing love.”

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – December 17, 2025

For the King trusts in the Lord, through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken. Psalm 21:7

Trust in God perseveres by His love. It perseveres as it grows in responsibility or diminishes in missed opportunities. Whether in the thrill of promotion or the disappointment of demotion, it still trusts God. In fact, the more responsibility we acquire, the more we need God. The more we seem capable, the more we realize we are incapable without Christ. Power may tempt us to lower our guard in trusting God, but the more responsibility and power we are given, the more we need to trust the Lord. Kings and Presidents need Christ as much as or more than paupers and priests. Trust is not dependent on our felt need. It depends on our ability to breathe. As long as we have breath in our lungs, we desperately need the Lord. Self-confidence is a barrier to our holy confidence in Christ. He sees us through. Trust in His love perseveres.

Trust perseveres because it is buoyed by its belief in God’s unfailing love. The love of the Lord remains secure in the face of suffering. It heals the wounds of a wounded soul. His unfailing love grants us the grace to forgive and forget. It persists despite harsh odds because it is hopeful about what we can attain in Christ. God’s love draws us into intimacy with Him. We feel safe when Jesus loves us. We feel secure when our Savior loves us. We find support and encouragement in His love. The love of God covers our sin of unbelief. It strengthens our faith. It is the love of the Most High that lifts us from our lowest points, keeping us trusting our caring Savior and Lord. He is high and exalted, so He can lift us up. He looks at us with compassion. Because He is trustworthy, we trust.

No one is greater than Almighty God. He is the Most High. We have the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to go directly to Him. The Holy Spirit serves as God’s gatekeeper. Through faith, we can trust Him to intercede on our behalf. Our faith may waver during times of confusion, but Christ provides clarity. Do not give up because of the complexities of your current situation. Turn to the Most High to untangle the mess you’re in. He is the decision-maker. He is your Creator. He knows how to guide you through this uncertain process. The Most High has the perspective needed to see you through. It is by faith that we keep going, even when we falter. Trust Him to reveal what you need to know. Persevere. Endure through His love.

The fruit of trust is perseverance. The destructive high winds of adversity may try to uproot your faith, but you will persevere. You will persevere in your marriage even though our culture gives you a pass for divorce. You will persevere in your job despite being passed over by someone less qualified. You will persevere as a parent because this could be your time to mature and grow. You will persevere as a leader because God is not finished expanding your influence. You will persevere as a Christian because you trust God. By God’s grace, you will not be moved. Let Him develop your character. Stand strong. Allow Him to love you through this season of transition. Trust endures by Love.

“May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance” (2 Thessalonians 3:5).

Prayer

Lord, strengthen my heart to trust You fully. When trials arise, help me persevere in Your steadfast love. Let endurance shape my faith and hope anchor my soul in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
