“If we are walking in God’s will, we are walking in his promises.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – April 2, 2026
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Genesis 12:1, NIV
Temperamentally, I love having all the facts. My worst nightmare is having to act decisively on incomplete information. What if I missed something important? What if I didn’t factor in all of the variables? What if…What if…What if…
Life rarely paints a full picture for us. If we wait around for all of the information, we may end up waiting our entire lives. This is why courage is so desperately needed in our day-to-day lives! Courage allows you to move forward even when you can’t see beyond the next step.
In one of the most foundational verses in the entire Bible, the story of Abram begins with an invitation to trust God and walk in courageous faith, even when the future is unknown. When the Lord says, “Go from your country,” he is essentially saying, “step out from your place of comfort, security, and familiarity.” This is no small request! This kind of faith requires an unshakable trust in the goodness and integrity of the one leading you. When the Lord promises to lead him “to the land I will show you,” Abram believes this to be a promise of blessing, a difficult decision that leads to an abundance of provision on the other side of the trial.
We are never promised a life free of struggle. We must never forget this truth. However, we can hold to the promises of God and believe them to be for our good. If we are walking in God’s will, we are walking in his promises, regardless of the difficulty or trial we may face along the way.
Today, the Lord may be asking you to follow him, even though you don’t have all the facts. You are being invited to step out boldly in faith, trusting in his character and love for you. If the Lord has promised it, it must be for your good!
Prayer
Father, give us the courage to walk in your promises and follow your lead, even when we don’t have all of the information or clarity we may desire, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
