Peace Follows Order

Written by Boyd Bailey

Peace is the fruit of a home and work ordered by Christ’s priorities.”

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – September 2, 2026

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33

God can bless a mess, but He normally blesses order and a plan. Orderliness means you have taken time to save time and money. It also shows you care for those you serve. You take care of the details that communicate care and concern. The best organization is built through relational effectiveness and systems efficiency. Relationally, the focus and measure of success are first on right behavior and then on the right bottom-line results. Systems and processes are designed to serve people. Then systems can be managed, and people can be led. Organize so you can invest in people. This focus gives freedom and endurance. God will bless an organization that is Christ-centered and focused on serving people. Peace out of order creates an attractive environment.

Orderliness gives our lives a clear direction to follow. Without structure, we naively react to every person or opportunity. We wake up one day confused and unsure of our purpose. Thus, we seek structure to keep us focused on God’s best. Stable societies, homes, churches, and companies all contribute to secure environments. If we coast through life, we drift toward disorganization and purposelessness. The Holy Spirit supports an ordered life, and the fruit of peace flows from a person whose steps are ordered by the Lord.

Does your life lack order? Do you need a systematic approach to your religion and work? The intentionality of the Lord’s creation beautifully reflects a grand design and discipline. Likewise, we are created for a supportive infrastructure at home and at work. This is why children deserve a mom and a dad who love and support them. A structured home is a safe and peaceful home. As adults, they will want to come back to be loved.

One reason we prayerfully organize is to evangelize. Our lives are attractive when they are under the influence and control of the Holy Spirit. Like a safe harbor in a storm, people whose lives are rocky need to see in us the peace and calm of Christ. Moreover, even amid chaotic circumstances, the buoyancy of our belief in Jesus keeps us afloat in the middle of the storm. Serious followers of Jesus have boundaries that keep them focused on His priorities. Wisdom applies structure at home and at work, so folly does not lead us astray. Peace is the fruit of a home and work ordered by Christ’s priorities.

Most of all, seek an orderly approach in your relationship with Jesus Christ. He offers life-giving wisdom, not death through foolish decisions. Be systematic in how you seek the Lord. Start with a daily Scripture reading and a few minutes of reflection. Build a spiritual infrastructure that withstands the winds of change. The Lord orders the steps of those who surrender daily to Jesus and are Spirit-filled by the goodness of God.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way” (Psalm 37:23, NKJV).

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are not a God of disorder but of peace. Order my steps, my home, my work. Build a stable rhythm in me that reflects Your grand design. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Application

Today, name one area of disorder: schedule, finances, spiritual practice, relationships. Take one small ordering step: a plan, a boundary, a fifteen-minute morning devotion. Trust peace to follow order.
