God Loves You

Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture… None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. Romans 8:31-39, MSG

God loves you. Yes! Unconditional. Undeniable. Unlimited. You are His precious beloved child, made in the image of your Creator. Created for love to be loved and to love. And there is more. God is love, so yes, yes—Love loves you! Pure love poured out on you like a rushing waterfall after a torrential rainfall, cool and comforting in the heat of the day or the heat of the moment. No matter your situation—single, married, divorced, widow, widower, orphan, successful, failure, working, out of work, rich, poor, good or bad—you are uniquely and passionately loved. Loved by the gentle, forgiving touch of your heavenly Father. Loved by the brotherly friendship and romantic passion of Jesus Christ, and loved by the comfort, compassion and guidance of the Holy Spirit. This love Trinity is your go to community of care for your body, soul and spirit. 

Other loves found outside of God’s love are inferior and unfulfilling. Like settling for leftovers that were not tasty to start with, instead of a customized plate of your favorite foods prepared and presented with an eye toward complete satisfaction. Your divine chef knows exactly what satisfies your soul, your deepest longings being met by the One who longs for you to know and experience love beyond this world. A love pregnant with possibilities yet to be birthed for you.

Imagine the best wedding ever, your groom adores you more than life itself. His love for you is light years away from other would-be suitors, because He is the Light and He invites you to walk in the light with Him for the rest of your life. A Divine Romance scripted by the lover of your soul, who pursues you with 100% pure intent for your good—for His abundant life for you. But it’s up to you to rest and abide in His love—trusting He can be trusted, your true love. At this epic wedding you share your vows: He will never leave or forsake you—divine love cannot divorce His beloved. He will stick closer than a brother in loyalty and fidelity, even when you are tempted to stray. His faithful love will lead you, be with you and follow you all the days of your life. Love will be your life, as Christ is your life. A lifetime of becoming One by intimate love.

A favored teacher on God’s love Saint John of The Cross wrote these gems on divine love:

When you regarded me 

Your eyes imprinted your grace in me, 

In this, you loved me again, 

And thus, my eyes merited 

To also love what you see in me… 

Let us go forth together to see ourselves in Your beauty.

Holy Spirit love will comfort you in your pain, heal you in your brokenness, rejoice when you rejoice, dance with you in joy, as His joy energizes your being. Like an infectious laugh, the Lord’s love becomes a soulful outburst of worship, praise and thanksgiving for God’s gift. Like Mary the mother of Jesus, praise the One who has adopted you to be His beloved child of love: 

“Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!… My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior” (Luke 1:28, 46-47).

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your lavish love, through the Spirit’s love and in Jesus’ name, amen.
