“Your quiet confidence in Christ is a megaphone of hope to a hurting world.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – November 28, 2025
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
There is a Holy Spirit-infused energy that comes through Christ living in and through you —a divine strength beyond self. This holy confidence ignites purpose, steadies faith, and fills your heart with God’s life-giving love, power, and peace. How does this bold faith grow and flourish?
Knowing you are loved and receiving divine love is what fuels your confidence. Henri Nouwen speaks from a place of resting in his belovedness with steady confidence, “When you know yourself as completely loved by God, then you are free to live with joy and confidence. You can walk through life with your head held high, not because of pride, but because you belong to God.” You have a Father in heaven who loves you on earth—with complete abandonment.
Paul wrote these iconic words from prison, not a podium. The context matters: he’s talking about contentment in suffering, not claiming superhuman achievement powers. “I can do all things” means “I can endure any circumstance”—poverty, abundance, hunger, imprisonment—because Christ strengthens me inwardly. This isn’t willpower or positive thinking. The Greek word Paul uses for “strengthens” means “infused with power,” the Spirit’s supernatural empowerment flowing through a surrendered life. Paul’s confidence wasn’t in himself but in Christ working through him.
You can face anything life throws at you because your strength comes from a divine source. It’s about dependence, not control. When you’re overwhelmed or stretched thin, Christ’s presence equips you to persevere with grace and calm confidence. Not because you’re strong, but because He is. You might be working two jobs during the day and caring for your family at night. At the end of your exhausted day, there is a supernatural energy reserve that the Spirit can sustain you in each moment. A health issue may be draining every ounce of your strength, yet with an unexplainable peace, you can comfort worried family members instead of collapsing under fear, not because you’re naturally brave, but because God’s presence steadies your soul. The weight of work is crushing your confidence, but you can find clarity for next steps when logic says panic, not from your own wisdom, but from Christ’s insights flowing through your renewed mind. Like Paul, do not allow the confines of circumstance to limit the Lord’s work in your life.
Most of all, make sure Christ is strengthening you in your inner being. Once again, Nouwen captures this idea beautifully: “When you trust deeply that God is truly within you, you can live from that place of strength. You can walk through life with a steady heart, knowing that the One who is in you is greater than any power outside you.” Reminds me of the words of John the beloved disciple, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
Tap into trust in the Lord as your divine energy today. No matter what the day brings, face it first by looking into the face of perfect Love. He sees you. He knows you. He loves you for you. From your place of belovedness, stand firm. Fiery darts of doubt glance off a heart focused on God. Prison chains of fear fall away from those comforted in the arms of Jesus. Your quiet confidence in Christ is a megaphone of hope to a hurting world and a sound of defeat to enemies.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).
Prayer
Lord Jesus, fill me with Your energizing confidence. Let Your Spirit strengthen my heart, steady my mind, and empower my steps. In You alone, I find courage, purpose, and peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
