“Don’t lose hope if you find yourself in an unexpected season. The road may not look like what you planned, but God is still writing your story.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – May 18, 2025
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
Have you ever found yourself in a season of life that looked nothing like you imagined? Maybe you took a wrong turn, made a poor decision, and are now living out the consequences. Or life shifted through no fault of your own and not in your favor. Whatever the cause, you’re left staring at a path you never expected to walk, wondering how you got here. And, more importantly, how do I turn this around?
The beauty of God’s love is that He doesn’t wait for us to have all the answers. He meets us right where we are. Whether our path was formed by our choices or circumstances beyond our control, God is still in the transformation business. He is not intimidated by detours, delays, or even disasters. In fact, He specializes in turning the messiest parts of our story into powerful testimonies.
In Romans 8:28, Paul writes, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” That doesn’t mean all things are good, but God can use all things—even our pain, regret, and brokenness—to shape, grow, and lead us to purpose.
We see this truth repeated over and over in Scripture. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused, and imprisoned—yet God used it to raise him to power and save nations. David fell into sin, faced betrayal, and ran for his life—yet God still called him a man after His own heart and used him mightily. Paul persecuted Christians—yet God transformed him into one of the greatest apostles.
God doesn’t just patch up our lives; He transforms them. He turns ashes into beauty, mourning into joy, and despair into hope. No path is too far gone for His redemption. He takes what was meant for evil and uses it for good.
So, don’t lose hope if you find yourself in an unexpected season. The road may not look like what you planned, but God is still writing your story. Trust the One who sees the whole picture, and watch how He transforms it into something beautiful.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Prayer
Father God, you are the ultimate transformer of our lives, renewing our hearts and entire beings each and every day. I place my whole heart and trust in you and say, your will be done, Lord.
Application
If you’ve found yourself in a season where your path is unclear, before your day begins ask Jesus to place you on the path where he wants you to be. Then, sit back, trust and watch as he begins his good work in you.
