“Christmas is not about the size of the presents under the tree – it’s about the presence of Christ in our lives.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – December 14, 2025
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
The Christmas season often sweeps us into a flurry of activity–decorating trees, shopping for gifts, attending gatherings, and planning festive meals. While these traditions can be joyful, they can also distract us from the heart of what we’re truly celebrating: the birth of Jesus Christ, the greatest gift ever given.
More than two thousand years ago, on a quiet night in Bethlehem, the Light of the World entered a dark and weary place. Not with fanfare or royal procession, but as a fragile baby, born in a manger. Heaven’s glory wrapped in swaddling clothes. In that moment, God’s love became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14).
Christmas is not about the size of the presents under the tree–it’s about the presence of Christ in our lives. The world may chase after the temporary glow of glitter and lights, but the true light shines in the hearts of all who receive Him. Jesus came not just to be born, but to bring hope, peace, and salvation. Through Him, we are reconciled to God and offered eternal life.
As we prepare to celebrate this season, let’s pause and reflect. What if, instead of rushing from one event to another, we slowed down long enough to truly adore Him? To let the wonder of His birth fill our hearts with gratitude? The shepherds left their flocks to see Him. The wise men traveled far to worship Him. This Christmas, we too are invited to come and adore Him, the Savior who humbled Himself for us.
Every twinkling light we see is a small reminder of the One who is the Light of the World. Every wrapped gift is a shadow of the far greater gift of salvation. And every Christmas carol that fills the air is an opportunity to lift our voices in worship.
So, as the season unfolds, may we not lose sight of its true meaning. Jesus Christ is the greatest gift of all and is our reason to rejoice.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming into this world as the greatest gift of all. Help me keep my heart focused on you this Christmas season. May my celebrations honor you, my Savior and my King, for you alone are worthy of all praise.
Application
As you prepare for Christmas, set aside intentional moments each day to thank God for sending His son, Jesus, the greatest gift of all.
