I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
Jeremiah 31:25
God’s refreshment is required because without it we risk living a dull and sad life. Like bread gone stale, our hearts can become crusty and hard. God’s refreshment softens our hearts and shaves away the rough edges. He understands the need to take a break from work and responsibilities. He created times of refreshment for refinement and rest so that our service for Him is with Him—Holy Spirit inspired!
These writings originated in my heart and mind during the duress of Covid-19 and were penned in 2020. I intentionally left in references to the real-time experiences as- sailing our family, church, culture, and world during those difficult days. None of these devotionals have been published in a book until now, with Refreshed by God: 100 Devotionals of Healing and Hope.
I just started reading Refreshed by God, but I have loved each of the thoughtful devotional reflections, scripture excerpts, prayers. Boyd Bailey has a great style that offers a corrective to my own tendencies toward shame, guilt, sin while also reminding me each day of the deep and guiding love offered by abiding In God's Word. —Cora
