Puzzle Pieces of Community

Written by Shana Schutte

God gives His truth to all of His children, but not one of His children possesses all of His truth.”

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – July 10, 2022

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Psalm 133:1

Romans 12:4-5 says, “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” (NLT)

God gives gifts and truth to all His children, but not one of His children possesses all His gifts and truth. His knowledge, wisdom, glory, majesty, and all aspects of who He is are spread throughout the body of Christ. We are all a part of one another the way puzzle pieces are part of a larger whole. One person has this insight into Christ because of unique experiences, temperament and gifts, and another has that.

No one knows everything . . .which obviously means we can all learn from one another.

Part of the joy of living in community is being expanded by others. By myself, I know less of the Lord than when I am connected to those around me in fellowship. When we dwell together in unity and are willing to learn from one another, we experience the various aspects of Christ’s goodness.

While on earth, we all see through glass darkly (1 Corinthians 13:12). The entirety of the Lord’s truth has not been revealed to you and me—and will not be revealed until we see Him face-to-face. Until then, you will only know in part.

This side of heaven, one way Christ expands His truth in each of our lives and hearts is through connected sharing. Through relationships, our understanding of Jesus and His love grows. You are His hands and feet to those around you—and they are His hands and feet to you.

Through sharing and learning from one another, we are able to help each other see what we cannot see on our own. Christ becomes more illuminated to each child of God through the body of Christ.

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

Prayer

Lord, how amazing it is that you give your truth to each of your children! Help me to be open to learning from others so I can experience more of you. Amen.

Application

Is there someone in the body of Christ that you can learn from so you can grow more in the knowledge and love of Christ?
