I Am Not Alone

Written by Wisdom Hunters

“God will fill any space where He is welcome.”

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – June 24, 2025

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. James 4:8a

As I inched my way up the parking deck exit ramp, I forced myself to choose trust over fear. The late-night drive home from Atlanta had not been in my plans, and now I felt anxious. My car seemed quiet and empty after a noisy day with my grandchildren.

Pulling into traffic, I patted the passenger seat, saying, “God, you are my husband, and you are making this trip home with me. I am not alone. You are my Daddy, right here in this car with me. Oh, yes, you are my Shepherd, and you will lead me safely home. You are my Protector; therefore, I do not need to fear. You are my Deliverer from any harm. You are God of Peace, and you calm all my anxiety.”

As I called out to God, His presence filled the entire car, and I felt the space becoming stuffy and crowded. I laughed at the thought of all my traveling companions. My car seemed much more cramped than the little 1959 Volkswagen my husband had described from his youth. Three teenage couples had packed themselves into a VW bug, looking for fun and adventure. The car was filled with six teenagers, and one of the couples was well over six feet tall. Now, that was a packed little space. My late-night adventure felt similar.

I drove a little slower, secretly hoping the trip would not pass quickly because His presence was tangible. It felt as if I could hold his hand and hear him breathe next to me. We talked, laughed, and sang all the way home. I wondered if the passing cars questioned how I could have crammed so much of God into one vehicle.

“God will fill any space where He is welcome.”

He longs to come close and fill our lives with Himself. We often drive through life feeling alone, overwhelmed, afraid, clueless, or lost. Yet, He is always there with us, promising never to leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

Prayer

Lord, make me aware of your Presence. Please open my eyes to see you and know you are very present. In Jesus name, Amen.

Application

Invite God to fill your car and life with His Presence. Speak it out loud and watch your faith arise.
