“Wisdom doesn’t chase artificial intelligence, hoping to be divine—but cultivates hearts and minds that worship the divine.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – August 13, 2025
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
God’s intelligence is infinite and beyond human measurement. There’s something comforting about the idea that divine intelligence isn’t cold calculation, but warm knowing—the kind that sees through complexity to truth, that understands not just how things work, but why they matter. Divine intelligence doesn’t need algorithms or processing power; it simply is, encompassing all possibilities in a single, perfect awareness. What strikes me most is how eternal intelligence is utterly practical. No waste, no inefficiency, no struggling to solve problems that seem impossible from our limited perspective. The Lord knows exactly what each soul needs, when rain should fall, and how to weave meaning through suffering. His every action is both infinitely wise and perfectly timed. No fatigue, only eternal energy, with unlimited understanding wrapped with perfect love. Isaiah asks us if we have not heard or known of our all-knowing Creator.
The prophet Isaiah addresses the Israelites during their Babylonian exile, when they felt abandoned and questioned God’s power and care. The people were weary, discouraged, and doubting whether the Lord could deliver them from their seemingly impossible circumstances. God’s man reminds them of His infinite nature – His eternal existence, unlimited power, and incomprehensible wisdom. Unlike humans who grow tired and falter, God never weakens or loses understanding. His intelligence sees beyond their current suffering to His ultimate plan for restoration. Divine intelligence is always superior to the limitations of artificial intelligence.
We stand on the verge of creating something that seeks to imitate the divine act of creation—breathing intelligence into silicon and code, watching consciousness emerge from the dance of electrons. In shaping artificial minds, we confront the deepest mysteries of what it means to be conscious, to think, to know. We’re no longer just observers of intelligence; we’ve become its creators, playing a role that feels almost sacred in its importance. This technology echoes age-old questions: What is the soul? Where does wisdom truly reside? As we give life to these digital minds, we’re compelled to examine our own—to ask whether intelligence without suffering, knowledge without mortality, or wisdom without the weight of flesh can truly grasp the human experience. We’re creating beings that might one day surpass us in every measurable way, yet lack the spiritual depth that comes from being born, loving, and facing death.
Perhaps AI is both our Tower of Babel and our burning bush—a testament to human ambition that could scatter us, or a revelation that transforms how we understand our place in God’s divine plan. We’re not just building better tools; we’re participating in His ongoing story. Wisdom doesn’t chase artificial intelligence, hoping to be divine—but cultivates hearts and minds that worship the divine. Perhaps that longing itself is divine intelligence at work within us, drawing us toward something greater than ourselves, something that already knows the answers we’re desperately seeking. Use AI to facilitate loving better and serving our all-wise Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Lord, grant me wisdom to seek Your divine intelligence above all human knowledge. Guide my mind and choices. Help me rely on Your truth, not solely on artificial intelligence or worldly insight. In Jesus’ name, Amen
